Inspirational Stories by Gloria Stargel

Gloria Cassity Stargel is an author, free-lance writer and an assignment writer for Guideposts magazine. A born-again Christian, she is dedicated to sharing with others the good news of Jesus Christ. Her book The Healing, “One Family’s Victorious Struggle with Cancer,” Tyndale House Publishers and Bright Morning Publications, earned the “Award for Excellence in Writing” at the Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference, Black Mountain, North Carolina.

Her newest book – My Anchor Holds: The Difference Jesus Makes – is a unique collection of inspirational stories. Having completed The Healing, which she calls her “divine assignment,” she asked the Lord, “What next?”

His reply was to send her on a new mission: sharing God’s great love for people through personal experience, inspirational stories. My Anchor Holds is the culmination of that mission: fifty-seven captivating stories and poems, of her own experiences plus those of many others. “These stories have greatly blessed my own life,” she says, “I pray that do the same for yours.”

Gloria became affiliated with Guideposts in 1990 when a winning manuscript earned her an invitation to attend their much-sought-after workshop in Rye, New York. In addition to Guideposts, her award-winning articles are published in dozens of periodicals, among them: Home Life, Journal of Christian Nursing; and Decision, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Other articles are in an equal number of anthologies, including Chicken Soup for the Soul, God Answers Prayers, Stories for the Heart, Grace Givers …

A member of National League American Pen Women, North Georgia Writers, Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, Mu Rho Sigma, and Phi Beta Sigma Honor Society, Mrs. Stargel holds a degree in Social Work/Journalism. She is a 2003 inductee into the Brenau University Alumni Hall of Fame.

Gloria and her cancer-survivor husband, Joe — a former mayor, retired judge and Marine Corps officer — still live in the North Georgia town where both grew up. They have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, an eighteen-year-old grandson serving in the Marine Corps, and cat named (for good reason) Xena, the Warrior Princess.
